The NCAA Takes Center Stage

The Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum went the NCAA route on Friday with seven releases honoring champions, marking rivalries, and previewing the upcoming basketball season.

The Hall released an officially licensed, limited-edition LSU Tigers 2023 Women’s Basketball National Champions Bobblehead. The bobblehead, which features LSU’s mascot, Mike the Tiger, commemorates the LSU Tigers first basketball National Championship. The release comes as the preseason #1 ranked Tigers prepare for the 2023-24 season with the team’s first game on Monday against 20th-ranked Colorado at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Monday and the first home game of the season against Queens on Thursday. The special edition bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of the LSU Tigers. 

Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,023 and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in January, are $40 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.

“Led by an incredible all-around team effort, the LSU Tigers were clearly the class of the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “In winning the school’s first national title in women’s basketball, the Tigers capped a memorable season with a record-setting performance in the championship game. This bobblehead will be a must-have for LSU fans.”

HOUSTON, THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS

A quartet of officially licensed nodders, two apiece of Houston Cougars mascots Shasta and Sasha, were released to coincide with the start of the men’s basketball season. Houston enters play this year as the seventh-ranked team in the country after reaching the Sweet 16 last spring.

The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in November, are $35 each or $130 for a set of four plus an $8 flat-rate shipping charge per order. Each bobblehead in the series is individually numbered to 2,023.

“We are excited to unveil these bobbleheads featuring Shasta and Sasha as Houston begins the 2023-24 basketball season ranked in the top 10 again,” Sklar said. “These bobbleheads will be a must have for Houston alumni, students, faculty, staff, and fans and the perfect way for fans to show off their love for the Cougars.”

FLEXING YOUR MUSSELMAN

University of Arkansas basketball coach Eric Musselman was also feted. The officially licensed, limited-edition bobblehead is being released as Coach Musselman and Arkansas prepares for the 2023-24 season. Arkansas is ranked #14 in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll, with the Razorbacks coming off a Sweet 16 Season that included a victory over top-seeded and defending national champion Kansas in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Standing on a base bearing his name and the Arkansas logo, the Musselman bobblehead has a fist raised in celebratory fashion as he celebrates with fans on the Razorbacks reaching their third straight Sweet 16. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,023 and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in early December, are $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.

“We are excited to unveil the first bobblehead of Arkansas basketball coach Eric Musselman,” Sklar said. “Coach Musselman has made his mark with the Razorbacks in recent years. If you’re an Arkansas hoops fan, this bobblehead is a must-have.”

FANNING THE DAKOTA VS. DAKOTA FLAMES

The officially licensed, limited-edition North Dakota State vs. South Dakota State Dakota Marker Football Rivalry Bobblehead ahead of Saturday’s rivalry game. The bobblehead features NDSU’s mascot, Thundar, and SDSU’s mascot, Jack the Jackrabbit, along with a bobbling replica of the Dakota Marker. The bobblehead commemorates the longtime football rivalry, which has been called the Dakota Marker Series since 2004.The special edition bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.

Standing side-by-side on a football field base that reads “BISON” in one end zone and “JACKRABBITS” in the other end zone, the mascots are wearing their respective uniforms while giving the No. 1 signal. Positioned in between Thundar and Jack the Jackrabbit is a replica of the Dakota Marker trophy, which also bobbles. The front of the base features the logos for each team with a VS in the middle.

Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 1,903 in honor of the year of the first-ever matchup in the rivalry. The bobbleheads are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in January, are $50 each, plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.

The special edition bobblehead is being released in conjunction with the 115th meeting between the teams which is on Saturday, November 4th at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings, South Dakota. South Dakota State enters the game undefeated with a record of 8-0 while North Dakota State enters with a 6-2 record. North Dakota State will look to give the Jackrabbits their first loss of the season and get revenge for last year’s loss in the National Championship game.

“We’re excited to release this bobblehead commemorating the fierce rivalry between North Dakota State and South Dakota State on the football field,” Sklar said. “No matter the records, the NDSU-SDSU game is always one to keep an eye on during the college football season. Fans of the Dakota Marker series will love this bobblehead.”
